how it began

I was born and raised in Saratoga, California. I received my BFA in Art & Design from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo where I was given the amazing opportunity to intern in the Roxy graphic design department at Quiksilver.

After graduating, I moved back north and earned a Web Development Certificate through the UC Santa Cruz Extension to further develop my graphic design skillset. From there I began freelancing for apparel companies in the action sports industry.

how it’s going

In 2017 my mom and I launched Poppy & Quail, a mother-daughter venture inspired by the beautifully diverse geography and lifestyle of California.

The dream to launch our small business grew from annual summer trips to Yosemite National Park. Over the years, while shopping for gifts to bring home to friends and family, we noticed how hard it is to find high quality souvenirs with much more than clipart for a design.

So after years of research and a learn-by-doing attitude, we dove right in by debuting our first line of products at 15 shows across California in just 8 months.

Inspired by vintage designs and bold color, Poppy & Quail is designed to bring a smile to your face and a touch of nostalgia to your space. From postcards and patches to bags and bandanas, our line of adventure-worthy goods has something for everyone!

Thanks so much for taking the time to check out my work. I truly appreciate you being here!

Happy trails,
Katey
